Your Fear

You cling to my doubting hand,
We cross the scared road.
Hesitant pavement. Firm clasp.

  1. What a lovely inversion of the standard 5-7-5 haiku form. I was especially fond of the last line, broken by the period.

On a side note, I mis-read the “scared road” as the “sacred road.” How would that change the whole meaning of the poem?
