Staring Death In the Face

Eyes glazed,
Lashes leashed,
Un-winked fright.
Cells focused out,
Pain unquivered,
Fist unclenched
Fingers spread white
Veins dyed,
Blood running mixed,
Head cloaked,
Dreams tonsured,
Beauty shriveled,

Her silence haunted.
Her patiently wait.

On her shoulders his hand.

The moment survived.
Negotiated death bend.
